A portable cabin gives a Glasgow site space that goes up without building work, with insulated walls and roof for a west-coast winter. Every unit is factory-built and fitted out, then delivered assembled or flat-packed. Common uses around the city:

Reliability comes from the container build: a bolted galvanised steel frame, insulated sandwich-panel walls and roof, PVC double-glazed windows and a vinyl floor on cement board rated to 200 kg/m². Every cabin has a 12-month warranty against manufacturing and assembly faults.

The standard container build has insulated sandwich-panel walls and roof. Walls have a U-value of 0.46 W/m²K and the roof 0.26 W/m²K, and the roof is designed for a snow load of 80 kg/m². For harsher climates the build can go further, with extra insulation added to the standard build.
Condensation is the other Glasgow problem. An insulated cabin with a small heater and some ventilation stays drier than bare steel. Our guide how warm is a container in winter shows the heating you need. Where fire performance matters, ask about rock-wool panels in place of EPS.
| Specification | Standard build |
|---|---|
| Frame | Galvanised steel, bolted (not welded) |
| Walls | 50 mm EPS sandwich panel (PUR option) |
| Roof | 125 mm EPS (50 mm PUR on some ranges) |
| U-values | Walls 0.46, roof 0.26, floor 1.24 W/m²K |
| Floor | 2 mm PVC vinyl on 14 mm cement board, 200 kg/m² |
| Snow load | 80 kg/m² |
| Windows | PVC, double glazed, 90° opening |
| Finish | RAL 9002 powder-coated steel |

Our products are used in over 140 countries, with ISO 9001:2015 and CE certified production.
The same bolted-frame system builds a single site office or a larger modular block.
Because the frame is bolted, not welded, a cabin can be dismantled and re-used many times, and the building is 100% recyclable at the end of its life.
Cabins travel assembled or flat-packed. Assembled units are lifted onto your base by the lorry's own crane (HIAB); flat-pack suits back courts, courtyards and sites the lorry cannot reach. The base should be firm and level — a concrete slab or level pads — and an electrician connects the incoming supply.
Temporary cabins that support building work are generally allowed while the work lasts. A permanent office or classroom usually needs planning permission from Glasgow City Council and may need a building warrant, because Scotland runs its own building standards system. Much of the city centre and West End are conservation areas. We supply drawings for any application.

A used shipping container looks like cheap space, but it was built to carry cargo, not people. Bare steel walls run with condensation in a Glasgow winter, every window and door has to be cut into the shell, and a used box arrives with dents, rust and an unknown history.
Second-hand portable cabins have their own problems: tired insulation, leaks at joints, uncertified wiring and no warranty. Our building containers are insulated, glazed and wired at the factory. See containers and site cabins for the full ranges, or Leeds portable cabins and containers.
