Modular kiosks near Edinburgh for sale

An Edinburgh kiosk has to cope with crowds and weather. Festival season fills the city centre every August, winter markets follow, and campuses, stations, venues and park-and-ride car parks need a warm, lockable point to sell tickets, serve coffee or answer questions all year.

A modular kiosk is factory-built and fitted out, then delivered in one piece. There is no building work on site: the kiosk is lifted onto a level base, connected to power and opened for trade.

  • Festival box office or information point: GRP kiosk 1.50 × 2.70 m, with a serving hatch as an option.
  • Coffee and street food: GRP kiosk 2.15 × 2.70 m, with room for a counter and two staff.
  • Car park and park-and-ride attendant: GRP kiosk 1.50 × 1.50 m, or an insulated panel kiosk from 1.35 × 1.35 m.
  • Campus or visitor centre entrance: canopy kiosk with a canopy roof and stone-effect cladding.
  • Historic streets: a heritage kiosk with a classic cornice and panelling, made to size.

Hire can suit a single weekend. If you need a kiosk for a whole festival season, or every year, compare the hire total with these prices: buying can work out cheaper, and the kiosk stays yours to store, move or resell.

Coffee and food kiosks for Edinburgh

A coffee or food kiosk needs more than a box with a window. Plan a serving hatch at counter height, sockets for the coffee machine, fridge and grinder, and space behind the counter for two people at busy times. A 2.15 × 2.70 m GRP kiosk gives a comfortable layout; 1.50 × 2.70 m suits a one-person coffee point.

Our GRP kiosks come with a window, a door, lights, sockets and a consumer unit fitted. Extra sockets, a sink and a water connection are things we confirm in your written quote. See catering kiosks for food and coffee for more layouts.

Register as a food business with the City of Edinburgh Council at least 28 days before you open. At festivals and markets, the organiser normally allocates pitches and sets its own rules for power and access.

Best choice for a GRP kiosk on an Edinburgh street

Edinburgh weather is hard on timber kiosks: wind-driven rain, coastal haar and frost through the winter. GRP (glass-reinforced plastic) kiosks are moulded in one piece, so there are no joints to leak and nothing to rot or rust. The smooth finish wipes clean after a busy weekend, and the insulated walls and roof mean a small heater keeps staff comfortable.

GRP is also light. A 1.50 × 1.50 m kiosk weighs about 280 kg and a 2.70 × 2.70 m kiosk about 650 kg, so the delivery lorry's own crane can place it almost anywhere it can reach, and lift it out again at the end of the season.

Where a white kiosk would look out of place, beside a listed building or on a Georgian square, choose the heritage kiosk: a modern insulated cabin with a classic cornice and panelling, finished in a colour to order.

Delivery, planning and licences in Edinburgh

Kiosks travel fully assembled on a lorry with its own crane (HIAB), which lifts them straight onto your base: a concrete slab, paving or four level pads. The lorry needs clear access and no overhead cables near the lift. In the historic centre, closes and narrow wynds may not take a lorry, so give us the exact spot in your inquiry.

The historic centre is a World Heritage Site, and much of it is covered by conservation areas and listed buildings. A permanent kiosk on a street or square is likely to need planning permission from the City of Edinburgh Council, and Scotland has its own building standards system. Ask the council early; we supply drawings for the application.

Selling in a public place in Scotland usually needs a street trader's licence from the council's licensing team. Sort it out before you book delivery. Planning a kiosk elsewhere in Scotland? See Glasgow modular kiosks or all our kiosks for cities.

Second-hand and used kiosks: what to check

A new modular kiosk is built to your drawing, arrives with electrics fitted and carries a 12-month warranty against manufacturing and assembly faults. Our products are used in over 140 countries, with ISO 9001:2015 and CE certified production.

A used kiosk can look like a bargain until it is on site. Before you buy one, check for:

  • Leaks at panel joints, the roof edge and around windows
  • Soft floors, rot or rust in the base frame
  • Wiring with no test certificate
  • A size and window layout that suits someone else's business, not yours
  • No warranty and no drawings for a planning application
